Council Tax Reduction Scheme 2024

Each year Wiltshire Council reviews how much reduction in council tax is given to people of working age and publishes this in a Council Tax Reduction (CTR) scheme (also known as Council Tax Support).

For the first time in four years, we are proposing to make significant changes to the scheme which was introduced in 2013. The changes we are proposing do not affect pensioners and, if agreed, will be brought in from April 2024.

We believe these changes would improve the customer experience when claiming council tax reduction in addition to the creation of administration efficiencies.

We currently assess CTR for customers in receipt of Universal Credit differently to other working age customers. In the interest of fairness, we propose to change the way we deal with Universal Credit customers to bring them more in line with other working age customers.

We would like to get your views on changes to the current scheme. The survey should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete and all your answers will be treated in the strictest confidence and not shared with any agency or organisation outside of the council and its partners.
